V A N N O Y G R O U P has been transforming the brand and product personalities of companies nationwide for decades. Partner Jim Van Noy launched the firm in 1971, capitalizing on his experience at Chiat/Day and other creative firms. A former president for three consecutive years of the Los Angeles Art Directors Club, Jim is a member of the AIGA and Brand Design Association. As creative director, he shares executive responsibilities with Ann Van Noy, who became a fellow partner in the firm in 1980. Bringing strategic experience honed as Corporate Advertising Manager at McCulloch Corporation, among other marketing positions.
VNGs staff of designers, illustrators and account executives work from offices in the Los Angeles area as well as the Northern California wine country. Their fully digital production capabilities include high-speed links that allow the swift exchange of ideas with clients anywhere in the nation. Its an essential component of VNGs philosophy of forging enduring working partnerships with the companies whose identities we help shape.

The VNG process recognizes that a brand or products identity evolves from a balance of three distinct forces. These include the product or brand itself and its inherent attributes. The target audience and the way it responds to those attributes. And the competition, including the threats and opportunities its strengths and weaknesses present.
Considering these forces at the outset of any program is essential to the effectiveness of the final results. Thats why VNG strives to understand the unique nature of each brand or product, as well as how customers perceive it in the context of the choices available to them. With this knowledge, we can formulate a strategy on which to base our creative explorations.
The range of creative executions we develop must then be evaluated against these criteria. Do they convey the essential character of the brand or product? Do they project a personality that stands out from the competition? And ultimately, do they contain elements that strike a responsive chord in the hearts and minds of consumers when tested? Once these elements are identified, concepts can be refined and finalized. With careful attention to all aspects of production, a strong and durable link between brand and customer can be forged.

Others' perspectives on us include more than 200 awards from the New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco Art Directors Clubs, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, The Clio Awards, The Brand Design Association and the Belding Awards, to name a few. But even more important is what our clients themselves have to say.

"We worked with three different high profile advertising agencies before we "got it right" and selected the Van Noy Group. There is no question that VNG is a special company. They possess a unique combination of a hard work ethic, and terrific creative design. By working extremely hard to research our industry and really learn our business, VNG was able to combine this knowledge with their package design expertise and deliver the results we were looking for. Our partnership with VNG has meant increased sales, improved image, and maybe most importantly, a new found pride in a product line we feel is the best and most attractive in the industry.
If packaging is important to a company, they definitely need a company that specializes in packaging design and takes a sincere interest in their business, like the Van Noy Group."

"VNG makes an excellent marketing partner because they have such a passion for the products they represent. They immersed themselves in each of our projects, personally researching the competitive environment by visiting stores and restaurants. I've known VNG for a number of years now, and in every case they've come through with a top-notch effort. They deliver everything I want in consumer packaging. They act on my behalf as if they were me."

Dear Jim:
This is simply to thank you for the quality of work you have done for the launch of OptiMark Technologies, Inc. in 1999.
As a new company entering the Wall Street world, we have been able to leverage our limited funds and create a dramatic "buzz" in the financial community simply by the look for the firm, which is now reflected in all our work and stands out beautifully against the traditional dull designs and colors that have characterized financial institutions for years.
As a result we have become "the talk of the Street", often with competitors telling their agencies "Why can't you give us work like that?" We are proud of our association with you and simply wanted you to know.
Warm Regards,

Richard Edler

"Pentel has been working with VNG for over six years. They always find creative solutions to our promotional and packaging needs.
VNG has helped Pentel with a number of projects including: a redesign of the Pentel brand to incorporate an updated identity; a successful launch of the Milky Gel Roller pen with targeted, youth-oriented POP displays and sales collateral; and a number of dozen box and header card designs.
The staff at Pentel really enjoys working with the VNG team. Everyone is very friendly and fun to work with. All projects become a team effort VNG listens to what you want for your end result and then they work together, with you, to produce the best possible creative piece.
If you choose VNG, you will definitely get results. You will be working with a very professional, very creative and very nice Group of people."

"We set ambitious goals for the introduction of our first padlock line under the Black & Decker name. VNG supported that introduction with a brand imaging and packaging program that exceeded our expectations. Their innovative work was a success at every level with the Kwikset sales force and our retailers, as well as with consumers. VNG delivered the program in time and under budget. It was a pleasure working with them, and we've been pleased to include VNG on subsequent Kwikset projects."

Dear Jim:
I wanted to drop you a quick note to say what a pleasure it is working with VNG. As you know, we've been working with VNG for several years now on a variety of projects from brochures to packaging and all with stellar results.
Out of our latest venture was born some of our greatest packaging ever. The new YourLife® Body Benefits Paks design is strong, bold and makes an impactful presence of shelf. More importantly the packaging captures our new brand positioning perfectly and sets us apart from our competition.
We thank you for your innovation and look forward to working on future projects.
Best regards,
